WATSONVILLE — Meteorologists are predicting a dry weekend for the Monterey Bay region, while some rain could dampen areas north of San Francisco.

At the National Weather Service of Monterey, meteorologist Duane Dykema said this weekend will be cooler. He described a series of weak weather systems lining up to reach the Monterey Bay over the week.

“Starting Monday the chances of rain will increase and those chances will be higher going into Tuesday,” Dykema said. “Rainfall on Tuesday could be light to moderate.”

Dykema said there will be a sunny break Wednesday and Thursday but by the end of the week more rain will likely come through.

“By Friday a stronger system, with some strong winds, appears to be coming our way,” he said. “This weather system, out of the west, could tap into some pretty heavy tropical moisture.”
