WATSONVILLE — Close to two dozen field workers at Lakeside Organic Gardens were treated to a hot catered lunch Tuesday as a gesture of thanks for the food that they routinely harvest.

Charlie Hong Kong restaurant owners, Rudy and Carolyn Rudolph, were joined by staff to serve the meal that included chard harvested by the field workers.

“We want to recognize the unsung heroes who harvest chard for our restaurant — without them we would not have fresh organic produce every day,” Carolyn Rudolph said. “We want them to taste the food we’re producing as a result of their hard labor.”
