Dylan Greiner

SANTA CRUZ The well-known owner of Santa Cruz Surf School was arrested Friday for lewd and lascivious acts with children, the Santa Cruz Police Department announced Saturday.

Dylan Greiner, 38, was arrested after detectives served a search warrant at his home and business.

Investigators found, among other things, a video collection allegedly recorded by Greiner of young girls changing into wetsuits in dressing rooms at his business. They also uncovered several photographs and other video where Greiner focused on breasts, buttocks and genitalia of young girls, police said.

The two victims were 13 and 14 when the alleged relationships began.

According to police, Greiner coaxed with them with free surf lessons and employment at his business, and made inappropriate sexual advances toward them.

He also took inappropriate photographs of the victims focusing on private body parts, police said.

During his interview with detectives, Greiner admitted to the above actions as well as downloading from the Internet inappropriate images of young girls the same age as his victims. He also wrote an apology letter to the victims and the community.

Detectives believe there are more victims in the Santa Cruz area. A preliminary search of one of the seized computers showed thousands of videos secretly capturing young girls on the beach, some as young as 8 years old.

Greiner was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on $500,000 bail.

Detectives are asking concerned parents, additional victims or anyone with information to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations Unit at 420-5820.
