WATSONVILLE With sunny skies and mid- to low-60s forecasted for the weekend, the holiday events that were postponed last week will join a batch of other scheduled festivities.

Friday kicks off the events, with KSBW-TV and the Salvation Army's 26th annual "Share Your Holiday" at five locations across Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, including a spot at California Giant Berry Farms Cooling, 335 Industrial Road in Watsonville, from noon to 8 p.m.

Community members are asked to donate canned food, frozen turkeys, unwrapped toys or cash/check. KSBW anchors and reporters will be on hand to meet donators.

The event will be televised.

Last year, $93,600, 7,424 toys, 9,019 pounds of food, 994 turkeys, 868 pounds of clothes and 346 blankets were donated, according to KSBW.

Saturday marks the second annual Holiday Traditions in the Plaza, an event that showcases the many different cultures in Watsonville, said Victoria Nelson, an organizer of the event and the general manager of the Register-Pajaronian.

"What we're trying to do is celebrate the cultural diversity of Watsonville," she said.

Performances by the Watsonville Taiko Youth Drummers, Estrella de Esperanza Folkloric Dance Group, YWCA Youth Pre-School Choir, Portuguese Choir, Aztec Dance Group and more will perform on two stages in the downtown Watsonville plaza from noon-4 p.m.

"It's not just Christmas," she said. "We want to share all different traditions."

Santa Claus will arrive on an antique fire truck at 12:30 p.m., offering a chance for children to pose for pictures.
