Wanted woman Sloan shot, arrested

Posted: Monday, Dec 3rd, 2012

Amanda Sloan

SOQUEL — The Soquel woman accused of shooting at a Capitola Police officer during a traffic stop in November was arrested Sunday after she again fired at Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputies who came to arrest her, and was shot in the leg, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Nicasio Way in Soquel approximately 10:44 p.m. Sunday after someone called and told them she was there.

A source close to the investigation said she was in her parent’s house, and that her mother called 911.

Three deputies responded and attempted to set up a perimeter while they waited for backup.

As the deputies arrived, however, Sloan allegedly fired a handgun from the residence. She then came outside and pointed the gun at herself and then pointed the gun at a deputy in a threatening manner.

According to emergency dispatchers, Sloan called her mother last week and said she was crazy and would use force if caught and planned to commit suicide by cop.

“We got information that she was going to have the cops shoot her,” Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputy April Skalland said.
