WATSONVILLE — An armed man with a black handgun robbed a branch of Citibank on East Lake Avenue in Watsonville Thursday.
Police say the suspect wore a white plastic mask with a blank face and demanded money from tellers. He fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash at about 4:20 p.m.
Multiple law agences joined Watsonville Pollice in Project Rope, a multi-law agency effort to montior chief inerstections and key roadways, in hopes of snaring the suspect.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, heavyset, wearing a black beanie with a white stripe, and dark pants and dark shirt. He may have been driving a green Honda or Acura.
As of 5:20 p.m., no suspects had been located, Watsonville Police Watch Commander Tom Corral said.
There were no customers in the bank at the time of the heist, Corral said
