Police seeking skateboard groper

WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Police Department is warning the community to be on the lookout for a man who has reportedly been riding up behind women on a skateboard and young girls and groping them over the past two weeks.

According to Watsonville Police Lt. Mike Ridgway, the man has slapped or grabbed the buttocks of at least four female victims, who range from junior high to middle age.

The attacks have taken place in the area of Brewington Avenue, Martinelli Street and East Lake Avenue.

Ridgway said the women were walking alone, and advised them to be aware of their surroundings.

Police have also received several unconfirmed reports of similar incidents.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned male, 14 to 17 years old. He was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up.

“If you see an individual matching this description, give us a call,” Ridgway said. “We would very much like to find this individual and find out what’s going on.”
