WATSONVILLE — Trina Coffman Gomez, who has served on the Watsonville Planning Commission for two years and on the city’s Personnel Commission for a year before that, confirmed Friday that she plans to seek the Watsonville City Council District 6 seat in the Nov. 6 election.
Councilman Emilio Martinez currently occupies the seat.
The District 6 seat will be one of four that will be open in November. Districts 1, 2 and 3 will also be up for grabs, but it was unclear Friday whether anyone besides the incumbents has announced their intentions to run.
Candidates may begin filing on Monday, with an Aug. 10 deadline for districts with incumbents. If incumbents decide not to run again, candidates have until Aug. 15.
