WATSONVILLE — Santa Cruz County 2nd District supervisor candidate Daniel Beckett said that his run for office was launched when his candidate of choice, Gina Locatelli, decided in February to suspend her campaign.
“I didn’t feel that we were being adequately represented by the supervisors, and I wanted to give the voters an alternative to what we were being offered,” he said Tuesday at a meeting with the R-P editorial board.
A lifelong Corralitos native, Beckett is touting his intimate ties to his community and his devotion to the 2nd District, which runs from Watsonville to Capitola and includes Corralitos and Aptos.
He stresses that he is not a career politician and that he has no plans to eventually move on to higher office.
