WATSONVILLE — The intense storm Thursday night dumped more than two inches of rain in parts of the county and blasted the area with thunder that set off car alarms and rattled nerves.
In the wake of that storm, the skies are expected to be clear for the rest of the week, a forecaster said.
According to Weather Service meteorologist Chris Stumpf, lightning hit the ground in the Monterey Bay an estimated 750 times.
“We haven’t had anything quite like that in a long time,” he said.
