WATSONVILLE — For Watsonville Antonio Zacarias, the Stations of the Cross in Ramsay Park Saturday was nothing less than a celebration of the religion he has followed his entire life.
“It’s important for us Catholics to remember that Jesus died for us,” he said. “He gave his life to raise our sins.”
Thousands of people gathered in the park, lining the walkways in droves as they watched actors play out the story of Jesus’ crucifixion.
Zacarias said similar scenes play out throughout Mexico as Catholics reflect on their faith for Holy Week.
Angelica Rodriguez said the celebration helps adherents commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection.
