WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved plans for a biofuels plant in an industrial building at 860 W. Beach Street.
The business — North Star Biofuels LLC. — will use a one-of-a-kind, patented production method to produce 65,000 gallons per day of “ultra-pure biodiesel,” jet fuel and other products. Some fuel would be sold on site at a “card lock” station.
According to North Star CEO Jim Levine, local sales will generate up to $800,000 in tax revenue for the city.
