Jesse Berlanga died Friday, January 19, 2007, at Watsonville Community Hospital. He was 56.
A native of Mexico, Mr. Berlanga was a baker for the past 40 years. He owned his own bakery in Greenfield for many years. Most recently, he had been working with his father at his bakery En Nopal in Pajaro. He liked to ski, write short stories, paint and draw with charcoal.
Mr. Berlanga is survived by his father, Francisco Berlanga of Pajaro; son Jesse Berlanga of Salinas; daughters Maggi Berlanga of Bakersfield and Laura Berlanga of Salinas; brothers Aldolfo Berlanga of Hollister, Raymond Berlanga of Madera, Javier Berlanga of Pajaro,
Juan Berlanga of Pajaro, Victor Berlanga of Salinas and Frank Berlanga of Pajaro; sisters Carmen Gonzalez of Salinas, Lupe Berlanga Cox of Watsonville and Rosie Aguayo of Royal Oaks; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe, in September.
A Rosary will be recited today at 6 p.m. at Mehls Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Tuesday at noon at Assumption Church in Pajaro. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Mehls Chapel on Monday from 3-9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning beginning at 8 a.m.
