Two community workshops about approaches to landscape restoration after the Summit Fire are scheduled at the Corralitos Community Church at 26 Browns Valley Road.
Speakers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County and Cal Fire will discuss fire damage assessment, the “Dos and Don’ts” of post-fire landscape restoration and emergency watershed protection. The meetings are scheduled for tonight from 6:30-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The NRCS and RCDSCC at the Capitola Local Partnership Office are now taking appointments for site visits and technical assistance for landscape restoration and for conservation of natural resources in the burn area. A list of “Dos and Don’ts” of post-fire landscape restoration is also available on the RCDSCC Web site at http://tinyurl.com/5uerxo.
All NRCS services are made available to land users without service fees. The NRCS and RCDSCC strive to help people protect, conserve and restore natural resources, according to the agencies. The partnership field office is located at 820 Bay Ave., Suite 128, Capitola, CA 95010.
Call NRCS at 475-1967 and the RCDSCC at 464-2950.
